Tokyo Gendai 2023

On the occasion of Tokyo Gendai 2023, Almine Rech will showcase interdisciplinary artists who demonstrate new currents and expansive investigations into the medium of painting and sculpture. Each uses illustrious colour to create vivid scenes of abstraction and figuration.

The booth will highlight mostly recent works by established, mid-career and emerging artists: Roby Dwi Antono, Oliver Beer, Günther Förg, Haley Josephs, Michael Kagan, Alexandre Lenoir, John McAllister, Vivian Springford, Thu Van Tran, Tom Wesselmann, Chloe Wise and Zio Ziegler.

The selected artists explore the components of visual language, drawing from a wide range of sources that coalesce into an array of gestures, symbols and materials, exploring historical motifs, memory and the imagination.
