Almine Rech congratulates Claire Tabouret on winning the competition to design contemporary stained glass windows for Notre-Dame de Paris

Almine Rech is pleased to announce that artist Claire Tabouret has been selected as the winner of the competition organized by the French Ministry of Culture to design contemporary stained glass windows for Notre-Dame de Paris. Claire Tabouret will team up with the studio of Reims-based master glassmaker Simon-Marq to make her design come to life. Founded in 1640, the Simon-Marq workshop has been putting its expertise to work for renowned contemporary artists such as Marc Chagall and Joan Miró since the 1950s.

The artist's proposition was chosen at the end of the second phase of the competition launched by the Ministry of Culture in March 2024, by an artistic committee composed of 20 members (heritage conservators, artists, members of the Paris diocese, the public establishment in charge of the reconstruction site, and the Ministry of Culture).

Six months of study are planned before completion, which should take a year and a half. The stained glass windows should be installed by the end of 2026.
