Contemporary Istanbul Foundation is thrilled to unveil Mythologiques, curated by Christoph Doswald, a solo exhibition by Tomokazu Matsuyama as a simultaneous event with the 60th International Art Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia.

Spanning from 20 April to 24 November 2024, at Magazzino No. 41, Venice, the exhibition delves into the multifaceted panorama of cultural identity, migration, and the globalized world through the work of Tomokazu Matsuyama. Born of a life lived between Japan and the USA, Matsuyama's work is a vibrant testament to the fluidity of cultural identity and the complex interplay of diverse cultural experiences.

In Mythologiques, Matsuyama crafts a visual dialogue that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries, challenging us to consider the essence of belonging in a globalized society. His art brings to the forefront the perpetual negotiation between the self and the foreign, weaving together signs and symbols from various origins into a cohesive yet multifaceted narrative.
