On the occasion of West Bund Art & Design, Almine Rech is pleased to present two solo shows, featuring new works by Mehdi Ghadyanloo and Ted Pim.

Engaging with art historical sources with distinct contemporary perspectives, the selected paintings by both artists represent their joint ability to challenge traditional artistic dialogue.

Born in Karaj, Iran in 1981, Mehdi Ghadyanloo combines minimalist themes and a surrealist aesthetic in his paintings. Through the use of trompe l’œil, Ghadyanloo composes paintings that take on the shape of square boxes with dreamlike imagery and hyperrealistic technique.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1987, Ted Pim draws inspirations from the old masters of Italian Renaissance and Dutch Golden Age. The mix of high art and mass produced imagery is often found in Pim's work, where he constructs a personal vision and his own reality.
