Tamuna Sirbiladze

In honor of Tamuna Sirbiladze (1971 - 2016), her exhibition at Almine Rech Gallery in Brussels was extended until April 14, 2016.

Tamuna Sirbiladze is exhibiting for the second time at Almine Rech Gallery Brussels. In 2010, on the occasion of Franz West's solo exhibition, Sirbiladze exhibited paintings in dialogue with sculptures by the Austrian artist. For this latest exhibition, Sirbiladze will present recent paintings created from 2013 to 2015.

In 2013, Sirbiladze produced paintings of blossoms, depictions that she considers as the beginning of something that is not yet fully grown. This series evolved in 2014 with paintings of flowers, created after Warhol's polaroid self-portraits and which she calls 'Andy's Hair'. Her new series of paintings consist of large scale sketches that oscillate between Modernist still life works and abstract paintings.

Sirbiladze has exhibited internationally with collections and institutions such as Rubell Family Collection, Miami (2015 - 2016); Omi International Arts Center, Ghent, New York (2015); Secession, Vienna (2015);  21er haus, Vienna (2014); Saatchi Gallery, London (2012); and the François Pinault Foundation, Venice (2007).

Tamuna Sirbiladze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1971.

Almine Rech Gallery est heureuse de présenter Two Projects: Tamuna Sirbiladze and Graham Collins. Ces deux expositions monographiques seront présentés du 14 janvier au 27 février 2016 à Bruxelles.

C’est la deuxième fois que Tamuna Sirbiladze expose à la galerie Almine Rech de Bruxelles. En 2010, à l’occasion de l’exposition de Franz West, Sirbiladze avait exposé des peintures en dialogue avec des sculptures de l’artiste autrichien. Dans cette nouvelle exposition, elle présentera des peintures récentes créées entre 2013 et 2015.

En 2013, Sirbiladze a réalisé des peintures représentant des boutons de fleurs, qu’elle considère comme la genèse de quelque chose qui n’a pas encore atteint sa pleine maturité. Cette série a évolué en 2014 avec des peintures de fleurs créées sur le modèle des autoportraits Polaroid d’Andy Warhol et qu’elle appelle « Andy's Hair » (les cheveux d’Andy). Sa nouvelle série est constituée de dessins au crayon gras de grande taille oscillant entre des natures mortes modernistes et des peintures abstraites.

Sirbiladze a exposé dans des collections et institutions internationales : Rubell Family Collection, Miami (2015 - 2016) ; Omi International Arts Center, Ghent, New York (2015) ; Secession, Vienne (2015) ; 21er Haus, Vienne (2014) ; Saatchi Gallery, Londres (2012) ; Fondation François Pinault, Venise (2007).

Tamuna Sirbiladze est née à Tbilissi, en Géorgie en 1971 et vit et travaille à Vienne.

Tamuna Sirbiladze exposeert voor de tweede keer bij Almine Rech Gallery in Brussel. In 2010, ter gelegenheid van de solotentoonstelling van Franz West, presenteerde Sirbiladze schilderijen in dialoog met sculpturen van de Oostenrijkse kunstenaar. In de huidige tentoonstelling zal Sirbiladze recente schilderijen, gecreëerd tussen 2013 en 2015, presenteren.

In 2013 produceerde Sirbiladze schilderijen van bloemknoppen, voorstellingen die zij ziet als het begin van iets dat nog niet volgroeid is. Deze serie evolueerde in 2014 naar schilderijen van bloemen, gerealiseerd naar de polaroid zelfportretten van Andy Warhol, die zij de titel Andy's Hair geeft. Haar nieuwe serie schilderijen bestaat uit grootschalige schetsen die ergens balanceren tussen modernistische stillevens en abstracte schilderijen.

Sirbiladze heeft internationaal tentoongesteld met werken in collecties en instellingen als de Rubell Family Collection, Miami (2015 - 2016); het Omi International Arts Center, Ghent, New York (2015); Secession, Wenen (2015); 21er Haus, Wenen (2014); de Saatchi Gallery, Londen (2012); en de Foundation François Pinault , Venetië (2007).
