Over the winter, a selection of works from the collection is presented in the West Wing of Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Parrhesia is the title of Franz West's sculpture group on display in the second exhibition gallery and is also an ancient Greek word meaning boldness, openness, liberality.
Focusing on 21st-century art, the exhibition explores the interplay of artistic disciplines – film, photography, sculpture, installation and painting.
The aim is for the works to exist on their own terms and not be confined to an art-historical school or narrative. As always with art, connections naturally arise between the works. The viewer sees to that in open and engaging interaction with the art.
Works by the following artists are exhibited: Mamma Andersson, Ed Atkins, Georg Baselitz, Elisheva Biernoff, Elina Brotherus, Cecily Brown, Alex Da Corte, Thomas Demand, Manal AlDowayan, Elmgreen & Dragset, Andreas Gursky, Ann Veronica Janssens, Sergej Jensen, Hannah Levy, Ann Lislegaard, Marilyn Minter, Tracey Moffatt, Henrik Olesen, A.R. Penck, Cindy Sherman, Seton Smith, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ryan Trecartin, Jeff Wall and Franz West.
