MACA Museum presents Cute. The Dark Side, an exhibition of drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures featuring many of the world’s greatest contemporary artists including Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Damien Hirst, Javier Calleja and David Shrigley.
So cute! But what does it say? Cute. The Dark Side delves deep into the psychological, emotive and dark humour behind the styles of Superflat and Kawaii, and how these artistic movements have helped to change the way young people think and behave, and how to cope with life’s pressures in a more positive and life-affirming manner.
Cute and dark, naughty and evil. Cute. The Dark Side explores the hidden messages and meanings behind the art of some of the most important and influential contemporary artists of the new millennium alongside a new generation of globally renowned young contemporary artists whom they have inspired.
